The Canadian Country Music Awards are repeated in Calgary just three years after the city hosted the last event.

Organizers announced Sunday that they will return to Calgary for next year’s party in 2022, when a week of country music events culminates with the awards show at the Scotiabank Saddledome.

“Calgary really embraces country music, and that energy is the reason we’ve successfully celebrated our event in the city nine times over the past two decades,” said Amy Jeninga, President, CCMA. “Building on the success of Country Music Week 2021 in London, Ontario, and Calgary’s proven track record of hosting an exceptional event, we believe that as we continue to emerge from the pandemic and Supporting the safe return to live events, there is no better place than Calgary to host Country Music Week 2022.

Tourism Calgary says it’s a boon to the city, as the 2019 event injected roughly $ 12 million into the visitor economy. The hosting of the weeklong celebration, which showcases local talent at a number of mini-concerts and other events, and the culmination of awards benefits the tourism industry here as well as the entertainment-related businesses.

The CCMAs were held this week in London, Ont., With the awards show hosted by Lindsay Ell of Calgary and Canadian drag race winner Priyanka, known as Mark Suknanan of Toronto. The show airs live on November 29 on the Global TV app and Amazon Prime Video. A further preview of the show will air on December 3 on Global TV.

Last year’s show was a modified virtual event due to COVID-19 restrictions.
