Rodney Crowell is a member of the Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame and five-time Americana Award winner whose latest albums include Rodney Crowell: Texas – 2019, and Rodney Crowell Triage recently released in June 2021

BIG RAPIDS, MI The legendary Rodney Crowell debuts at the Royce Auditorium at the St. Cecilia Music Center on November 12, 2021. Crowell, known as the founding father of the Americana genre, is Nashville royalty and a national treasure, as well as a five-time Americana winner and laureate. As strong as ever, Crowell is a successful songwriter, chart-topping singer, and member of the Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame. His prolific work has added two new albums over the past two years. With Crowell’s joyful ownership of songs that have become dear companions, audiences will experience the depth of Crowell’s true nature during this special night and his first appearance at the SCMC.

Tickets for Rodney Crowell are available on www.scmc-online.org or by calling 616-459-2224.

St. Cecilia Music Center Executive and Artistic Director Cathy Holbrook said: “We are delighted to welcome Rodney Crowell to the St. Cecilia Music Center. It’s so exciting to have touring artists and live spectators in the building. This evening of music will be very memorable.

Rodney Crowell has won numerous awards, including two GRAMMY’s and six Americana Music Association Awards, as well as the Lifetime Achievement for Songwriter Award. This last distinction resonates deeply with a man who has accumulated fifteen number one hits including 6 of his, and dozens more for an impressive array of artists, including Emmylou Harris, Johnny Cash, Waylon Jennings, Keith Urban, Bob Seger, Etta James and the Grateful Dead. He has 18 albums to his credit, with his most recent albums:

  • Rodney Crowell: Texas, released in August 2019. The album features his work performed by him and well-known artists such as Vince Gill, Ringo Starr, Lyle Lovett, Willie Nelson, Lee Ann Womack, Steve Earle and other outstanding musicians; and
  • Rodney Crowell: Triage, released in June 2021. This new collection of songs was written during the great political, climatic and economic upheaval that marked our last years. The sound of this chaos encouraged the songwriter to go inside for solace and answers. The result is this series of songs that tackle these themes but approach them from a place of healing love and solution. That they were released as we find ourselves going through a global pandemic, is a gift of perfect timing. Sorting is Rodney’s 18th studio album, his third on his own imprint, RC1 Records, and is his first with Thirty Tigers.

Filmmaker / musician Haroula Rose also directed Rodney’s first video released in May 2021, “Something Has To Change,” which was shot at Castle Recording Studios in Franklin, TN.

The 2021-22 St. Cecilia Music Center season features a lineup of world-class folk and jazz musicians, and celebrates the 10e anniversary of their partnership with the Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center. The new WinterFest Music Festival in February will also be a highlight of the new season. Throughout the season, the St. Cecilia Music Center will feature over 17 evenings of exceptional performances by world-renowned jazz, folk and chamber music artists in what is their 138th music season.
