Mr. Eazi announced a partnership with Decagon, organizers of Nigeria’s best software engineering training program, to help bright young Nigerians realize their dream of becoming software engineers. Mr. Eazi will sponsor 5 residents or natives of Ogun State to attend Decagon.

Decagon recently opened applications for its 6-month training program which includes accommodation, food, laptop, internet and a monthly stipend, followed by immediate placement at companies like Access Bank, Sterling Bank and Etranzact after graduation.

Visiting, interested candidates can apply before November 22 for this program which does not require any fee payment until interns have graduated and started working and earning salaries.

However, successful applicants must have a credible guarantor to access the Pay-Later model and this has proven difficult for some otherwise successful applicants in the past. It is because of this challenge that Mr. Eazi decided to step in and guarantee 5 lucky ones from Ogun State, by residence or by origin.

Chika Nwobi, CEO of Decagon, said: “For some who don’t have access to someone from their family or network to replace them, Mr. Eazi provides a lifeline and that’s the kind of collaboration that will move Nigeria forward.

Mr. Eazi is a singer, songwriter and entrepreneur. He is passionate about music and any program that supports emerging talent in Africa. In June 2020, Mr. Eazi launched the African Music Fund (AMF) with an initial investment of $ 20 million dedicated to African creators.

He recently launched the emPawa initiative to provide around 100 African artists with funding to shoot their music videos. Speaking about Decagon, he said: “I have always been passionate about helping young people and pushing them to be the best version of themselves. For some of them, their talents naturally align with software engineering. I am happy to support this initiative in the hope that they can support themselves and their families.
