A month after the Groundwater Country Music Festival (12-14 November) returned to the Gold Coast, event planners have once again had to pivot amid lingering uncertainty over the border closures.
With the state borders with Victoria and New South Wales still closed and no signs (yet) of their reopening, festival director Mark Duckworth and his team have made the difficult decision to continue with the 2021 festival minus a stack of previously announced stars.
“We have been unwavering in our perseverance to ensure the return of groundwater to the Gold Coast this year,” he said.
“It will be a great end to the year to see the exceptional country talent from Australia return to the stage and join us for this incredible event.”
While sad to see so many talented artists unable to attend, the Groundwater Country Music Festival has added Australian country royalty to the lineup with 37-time Golden Guitar winner Troy Cassar-Daley ( who released their most recent album, ‘The World Today,’ earlier this year) joining in on the action.
Another country legend, 14-time Golden Guitar winner Graeme Connors, as well as former “X Factor” finalist Caitlyn Shadbolt, roots and blues of yesteryear The Hillbilly Goats, pop artist Country rocker Jade Holland and Taylor Moss (whose 2020 single Ain’t No Girly Girl ‘has aired nearly two million times on Spotify) will all perform at the 2021 Groundwater Country Music Festival.
They join The Wolf Brothers, Sara Storer, Adam Brand, The Audreys and Casey Barnes, previously announced.
The Groundwater Country Music Festival (Gold Coast) takes place November 12-14.
