Country music star injured after tour bus overturns in crash

CAMPBELL COUNTY, Tenn. (WVLT/Gray News) – A country music star was injured Friday after his bus overturned in Tennessee, authorities say.

Musician John Michael Montgomery was traveling with his team on their way to a concert in North Carolina when the accident happened, he said in a statement.

According to the report, the 2001 Prevost Featherlite was traveling on I-75 near the Tennessee-Kentucky border when it struck the embankment and rolled over. WVLT reports that the right lane was closed for a few hours as crews worked to overturn the vehicle.

Montgomery said he suffered broken ribs and minor cuts from the accident, but was doing well. Other people on the bus are also recovering from their injuries, he said.

Montgomery released a statement regarding the crash:

Yesterday we had a serious accident on the way to a concert in North Carolina. Everyone on the bus is recovering from their injuries.

Despite a few cuts and broken ribs, I’m fine. I will take some time over the next two weeks to heal and get back on the road soon. I thank the doctors and the highway patrol for their quick response to this difficult situation. Thank you all for their concerns.
