Country music-drowned CBS halftime show was hilarious

There are all kinds of technical errors that can happen on a live TV show, and most of them just aren’t funny. Audio or video glitching is just an accepted thing that happens occasionally, and we’re moving on. But, we don’t often get practice mistakes, and when those show up, especially in an NFL game, it’s downright hilarious.

The Bengals’ halftime show against the Chiefs is the perfect example. For everyone in the stadium, everything was fine and nothing weird happened. For those of us at home, it was a mess. The stack of speakers for the halftime show was DIRECTLY BEHIND the media desk which led to this.

It quickly became clear that it wasn’t just a level issue. With the audio of the halftime show being so close to the CBS desktop, there was absolutely no way it would work. The crew therefore fought as best they could.

But the speaker stack always wins. Eventually, it was clear there was no getting over the power of Walker Hayes’ country music styles, so they just laid down and went with it.

Indeed, it was a party at KC baby.

I love it when something in the NFL, which is so carefully managed, goes so wrong. It’s like catching your buttoned-up mother smoking a joint with her friends in the garden and changing your whole view of her. It’s delicious, and fun.

Kudos to the CBS team for trying to get over this mess.
