As part of the Canal Encounters events, the concert takes place from 3 p.m. on Saturdays and features Euan with his Earthtones Trio – Euan (piano), Katherine Bryan (flute) and Betsy Taylor (cello) – playing a few tunes from their next Sound Tracks album.
The nine new pieces of contemporary classical music, written by Euan, take inspiration from the iconic landmarks of Falkirk’s main trail system, particularly those near Euan’s hometown, Falkirk, and the Lock Walks he enjoyed with her children.
The talented pianist’s concert will go hand in hand with the Canal Encounters, a month-long celebration of the Year of the Waters Coast created by Falkirk Community Trust, Great Place Falkirk and Scottish Canals with funding from the National Lottery Heritage Fund and Event Scotland.

Euan said, “Seeing the world through the eyes of my children nurtured memories of my own youth growing up in the Falkirk region and emotions, atmospheres, memories of people and places began to emerge, inspiring ideas for compositions.
“My own family has played a role in the history of this region for generations. Growing up in Falkirk has been central to my own musical development and has helped me
bases of my career as a composer and pianist.
“I owe this community gratitude and in writing this music I aim to give something back to the people who have helped me.”
In addition to a preview of tracks from Sound Tracks, Euan and Earthtones will perform covers of well-known classical and jazz themes by Bach, Satie, Debussy, Ellington, Gershwin, Mozart and Liszt.
Richard Dyer, chairman of Classic Music Live Falkirk concert organizers, said: “Thanks to the Falkirk Wheel and the Kelpies, Falkirk is regaining the importance it once had as the center of herding in Scotland. and a major transportation hub where the Forth and the Clyde and Union Canals meet.
“I am proud that Classic Music Live Falkirk is adding to this resurgent cultural richness with new music composed by Euan, who grew up in the city. Sound Tracks has great musical themes.”
