CITY OF PLUS-HEAD – The American Music Festival of Carteret County is resuming its offering of classical music concerts for the 2021-22 music season.
The first of four concerts will feature the Merz Trio on Saturday, September 25 at 7:30 pm The Merz Trio is the AMF’s young star artist for the season.
According to the organizers, the trio quickly toured the top American competitions, winning gold medals in the Fischoff 2019 and Chesapeake 2018 competitions and winning the 2019 New York Concert Artists Guild competition. A critic, in the Reading eagle in Reading, Pa., said Merz had a “Riveting … breathtaking virtuosity and ensemble work.”
The concert program includes piano trios by Brahms, Hayden and Rogerson.
All AMF concerts take place at the First Presbyterian Church at 1604 Arendell St. in Morehead City. Parking is free. Tickets cost $ 32 and can be purchased online or at the door. Tickets for students or active duty military cost $ 16 and are available at the door.

At the time of each concert, there will be masking and seating requirements based on recommendations from the United States Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, policies of the First Presbyterian Church, and the level of community transmission of COVID- 19 in Carteret County. Masks will be available during concerts.
A local organization, the American Music Festival, or AMF, has been providing great music in Carteret County and eastern North Carolina for 30 years, allowing music lovers to hear New York-quality performances. .
A portion of the proceeds from tickets and donations to the AMF are used to provide musical awareness programs to school children in the county.
